Josefina Rivera was convicted by a jury in May of misdemeanor battery with a deadly weapon. A judge sentenced her in February to 12 months’ probation, four months of anger management counseling and the cost of the victim’s medical bills.
According to the judge’s report, which was reviewed by news outlets, Rivera had pulled out a knife and attacked a man while he was leaving work.
Her attorney, Michael Bocanegra, said during an appearance in Superior Court that Rivera has a history of using medication but was taking a different prescription for the incident.
She was not immediately available for comment.
